I'm Dustin Overbeck, the owner of Town Web & HeyGov, and the owner of our office in Niš, Serbia: HejDev doo. We're not your average tech company. What Town Web does

We're a Govtech web agency. We build, host and support municipal website for our clients.

Our clients are local governments in the US. The people who use the software are city staff, department managers, Public Information Officers (PIOs) and the citizens they serve.

Day-to-day tasks as a Frontend Developer

Your tasks will include:

• Collaborate with project managers and designers to understand client requirements and design specifications
• Implement responsive website designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Customize themes from Wordpress, Webflow, Framer, our proprietary CMS to match client needs and design mockups
• Optimize website performance for speed and mobile responsiveness
• Troubleshoot and fix issues on existing client websites
• Implement ADA compliance features to ensure accessibility for all users.
• Perform cross-browser testing to ensure consistent functionality
• Communicate progress and technical details to non-technical team members and clients
• Contribute to the documentation of development processes and best practices
• Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions for new features and improvements
• Assist in the migration of client websites from other platforms to Town Web's systems
• Implement SEO best practices in website development
• Create and maintain reusable code libraries for efficient development
• Collaborate with the marketing team to implement tracking codes and analytics

Requirements

The Role of a Frontend Web Developer

As a Frontend Web Developer, you'll be the creative force behind our digital experiences. Your mission is to transform designs into fully functional, user-friendly interfaces that serve local communities across the US. You'll be an integral part of our team, shaping the way our clients interact with technology.

Here's what you'll be doing:

1. Bringing Designs to Life: Collaborate with designers and project managers to create sleek, efficient, and responsive web interfaces.
2. WordPress and CMS Mastery: Build and customize themes in WordPress and our proprietary CMS that wow our clients and meet their unique needs.
3. Client Website Projects: Work closely with Account Managers and Project Managers to launch impactful sites that make a difference in local communities.
4. Site Optimization: Enhance and optimize various site elements, including navigation menus, widgets, cards, calendars, typography, and emergency notification ticker.

6. Marketing Collaboration: Join forces with our marketing team who will design new landing pages in Figma. Your job is to take these Figma designs and development them as desktop & mobile versions in the CMS, which could be Webflow, Framer, WordPress, or our proprietary version.
7. Problem-Solving: Use your creativity and technical skills to troubleshoot issues and find innovative solutions.

What we're looking for in a candidate

We're not just looking for someone who can code—we're looking for an exceptional individual who is easy to work with, collaborative, and fun to be around.

Here are some of the hard and soft skills we’re looking for:

• Extremely strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (at least three years of experience)
• Prefers working on themes, buttons, styles, essentially "client-facing" coding, rather than backend work.
• Is experienced with responsive design for both mobile and desktop platforms
• Is proficient in CMS development and theme customization, especially WordPress
• Has knowledge of ADA compliance in web development, or willing to learn more about it
• Possesses a keen eye for design and understanding user experience
• Communicates clearly
• Works well with others, especially non-technical team members
• Has a proactive, can-do attitude with a problem-solving mindset
• Is flexible and eager to learn new tools and methodologies
• Smiles often and has an upbeat "can-do" attitude
• Is known for being exceptionally positive and always helping others out

Benefits

Salary

Working Hours will be during normal shift from 9AM to 5PM CET.

Starting salary will be $1000 - $1200 net/month for the first 90 days for full time work (40 hrs a week).

Monthly salary negotiable after the first 90 days for the right person in this position who fits well with our values, which were mentioned at the top of this post

Note that your salary will be paid in RSD, and it will be full time employment through HejDev doo
