In our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, GOPA-International Energy Consultants GmbH - Branch office Serbia is seeking a motivated Climate Change Junior Expert to join our multidisciplinary Sustainable Energy Team. This role is pivotal in managing and implementing innovative Sustainable Energy Projects, with a primary focus on decarbonization, carbon footprint calculation and climate risk assessment.

Your main tasks will include: 

• Project Management : Lead and manage the implementation of projects on climate change related topics in the energy sector, such as climate risk assessment, decarbonisation or GHG emission calculation. 
• Acquisition: Assisting in the development of technical proposals to address climate change and sustainability challenges.
• Client Engagement : Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives, sustainability targets, and carbon management needs.
• Strategy Development : Develop and implement carbon management strategies based on clients' overall sustainability goals and objectives, including support with Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and Paris Agreement alignment.
• Carbon Footprint Assessments : Conduct carbon footprint assessments, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, following internationally accepted GHG management and reporting standards (e.g., ISO 14.064, GHG Protocol for Corporates).

A BACKGROUND THAT CONVINCES US

• Education : A university degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related scientific field, with a strong emphasis on mathematics and natural sciences. 
• Knowledge / Experience : 
  • Carbon markets, GHG management, Emissions Trading System (ETS), and international standards for measurement and verification. Knowledge of climate risk assessment and modelling is a plus. Work experience in these topics is a plus. 
  • Main GHG databases and archives.
  • Familiar with the energy sector.
• Skills : 
  • Commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.
  • High degree of flexibility.
  • Fluency in English; additional French language skills are a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Teams and databases.
• Personal Attributes : 
  • Straightforward, highly motivated, and eager to learn about the technical aspects of the energy sector.
  • Communicative, responsible, and willing to travel abroad if necessary.
  • Innovative thinker, eager to learn new technologies and take on challenges.
